Sanibel and Internet Friends

This evening we went to the Sanibel Grill for a short time and were totally surprised when a lady walked up to us and asked if we were Sanibel Toots and Gary.  When we said yes we were, she told us that she was RottenMom, a fellow Blogger and long time acquaintance on Sanibel and Captiva message boards.  We had chatted, and made comments on each other's blogs, but had never met in person.  I have to tell you that it was a pleasure to meet her and the whole family.  I had seen pictures and read stories about them for a long time, and there they were!  I believe they are what you might term a 'neat' family.  The three children were so well mannered and after them each introducing themselves and talking to them for only a short time, it was plain to see that RottenMom has totally given herself the wrong title!  Her family all agreed with that. :)

We are so glad we had the chance to meet them, and feel bad that tomorrow is the last day of their vacation.

After leaving the Grill, we noticed the clouds from a passing thunder storm.  We had been watching it on the weather radar, and it showed some of it coming toward Sanibel.  We didn't get any rain at all.  After driving to a Sanibel Causeway island, it looked like there would be a pretty sunset because of the clouds, so we went on over to Sanibel Harbour Marriott to watch.  We weren't disappointed. :)  And....as we were reminded earlier, we thought once again, how lucky we are to live here.

This is not very good quality, but it is a close up view that I cropped out of one of my photos.  I think it is a little rare to see a circumhorizontal arc, (which is what I think it is called), but this is the third one I've seen since living here.  You can also see it in the next photo.

Very low tide

Tonight is the Full Thunder Moon or Buck Moon.  Have you ever heard of that?  My cousin mentioned it today on a FB post and I had to look it up.

The Full Buck Moon – July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, for the reason that thunderstorms are most frequent during this time. Another name for this month’s Moon was the Full Hay Moon.

Never too old to learn something new! :)

Hope you all have a great 4th of July!

What a nice photo of you, Tootie! Isn't it so much fun meeting bloggers when you least expect it? :) I hope to run in to you when my husband and I return to Sanibel next March. I know I've told you before, but I just adore seeing the pics you post of Sanibel. There's no prettier place on earth in my book! Hope you had a fabulous 4th down there! :)

Couldn't believe we walked in and there you were!

Meeting you and Gary was one of the highlights of the trip! You are everything I expected you to be in person and then some! Such a sweetheart! My kids adored you and Gary and thought you were such a cool couple. Thank you for the kind words about my family, that means the world to us.

XO to my favorite Sanibel Girl!

Thanks for the education about the names of the full moon for this month. Meeting bloggers in person is one of the neatest benefits of blogging.

You got to meet RottenMom and she got to meet you?? How unfair. The odds of me running into a fellow blogs is about zero. All "your" paths are pretty far from mine.

Your beach photos are beautiful as always. It is such a lovely place you call home.
