Lonely Thursday

Today has been a little sad and lonely, since daughter and SIL left yesterday evening. I busied myself this afternoon with a little window washing, then went to the beach, at access 2, to watch the sunset.

There were lots of sponge and pen shells. I did find a bubble shell, a couple of nice pairs of sailor's ears :-), a tiny, crusty starfish, a small piece of driftwood. It was sunny and I thought it felt warm this afternoon. I heard on the radio that it was 68 but felt like 72. This evening on the beach, the breeze made it a little chilly, but I still had on a short sleeve T shirt. There were several people out, most of them had on long sleeved shirts or a light jacket.

The sky was cloudless, but the sunset was pretty and there were just a few clouds along the horizon that hadn't been visible until the sun was nearly down.

Sorry you're missing your daughter and SIL. It's always hard when the visit is over. It looks and sounds like they enjoyed their trip.

Thanks for the sunset~

aw, I'm sorry you are feeling blue, my friend. I love that red stemmy stuff you found - will it stay red, do you think, or will it just fade as it dries out?

Thank you both. :-)

Tink, I've only tried to save one like that before and it got darker. The other orange one, I'm afraid will turn black. :-( Just thought I would try again. I'm going to do some reading and see if I can find a way to preserve them better.

Tootie-soak 'em in alcohol overnight. It keeps them from fading too much. That's what I did with mine, and it worked.

I've been thinking about Becky and SIL. How did she endure the trip home? I hope it wasn't too bad for her.

And i forgot to add, after they've soaked in the alcohol, then dried, spray them with the satin urethane.

Tootie: What a great series of skies you have shown.

You had a bad link on the SWF site so no-one could get here. I found your site from a comment so relinked you and removed the wrong link. FG / SWF Team

Your post isn't designated as Sky Watch, but I'm assuming it is. In any case, you have some wonderful photos here.
I've always wanted to go to Sanibel. Never made it.

A peaceful, beautiful sunset. The beach would cheer me up if I were sad!

I understand your sadness. It is like going through empty nest syndrome after a wonderful visit with the children.

You sky photos are great but I really liked the sea creatures. I live in the middle of the country and rarely get to this kind of beach. So it all seems so exotic to me. I have no idea of what any of the items are except the starfish and I have seen sand dollars before.

I also hope Becky and your SIL had a somewhat comfortable trip home.

I'm thinking they must have been pretty sad when they had to leave you, too. ;)

Beautiful sunset. I'd like to think it was put there for you to help chase the blues away...

=)
