Slow Sunday

I was moving very slow today. Still not feeling great. It was warm and sunny and I kept thinking of things I wanted to do, but just couldn't get up the energy to do any of them. So, I spent most of the afternoon and tonight, writing out a list of my favorite things to do on Sanibel, places I like to eat, shop, etc. I still need to add more and then send it to someone who's coming here next week.

About 10 PM, went to the Grill for a sandwich and watched the last part of a football game. They had a few more Christmas decorations added since I was there last, so I took a few more pictures. I also added a couple of my own wreaths. :-)

By the way, it's darned chilly here tonight, 51 degrees. And the night isn't over yet. Eeeek!

A Sanibel night! How could you not love that view?

Hair color Sunday

This day started out with Tink driving over to spend the afternoon here at Sanibel. She came here so I could do her hair color and then we called our friends, "The Snowbirds" to see if they wanted to do a mid-afternoon lunch and what we refer to as a 'bar crawl'. If you remember, we started out saying it was bar hopping, but since discovered that we all move a little slow for that, and then changed it to a 'Bar Crawl'.
The Snowbirds were up for it and asked where to meet us. We all met at the Sanibel Grill around 2:30. There was a big crowd there watching football games, and I have to say they were really loud with the cheering! We had lunch and watched the last part of the Patriots game. From there we moved on over to McT's. There was also a pretty full bar room there. We talked a lot and also sent text messages to friends to pester them a little. Also sent texts back and forth with Daughter and SIL, who wished they were still here. We also sent pictures to them; one in particular was to show Becky that we are all still wearing our support bracelets. We had nice afternoon!

Lazy Thursday

At Pointe Santo today, there were people everywhere you looked. I think 'season' has begun. There weren't many shells, except for ark and pen shells. It seems like after pen shells start coming in again, other shells soon follow. We have our fingers crossed. :-)









This was a lazy day. Becky was a little tired and has had quite a lot of back pain since last weekend. She wasn't complaining, but luckily they had a chance to sleep in and rest up a little, so they did. By mid-afternoon and after a shower, she was ready to go over to Periwinkle Place and do some browsing through the shops there. I have to tell you, she makes me feel pretty bad, when she can shop MUCH longer than I can. :-)

The sky was streaked with pink color again from the sunset as we went to the Sanibel Grill for dinner and then watched a football game. They didn't go back to their condo until just after mid-night. She said that she wanted to get to bed so that she could get up earlier tomorrow and get more sun. We had a very good time.

SUNDAY SOCIAL

This afternoon, some of the Sanibel bloggers got together for some socializing. Tink nor I had met Mr & Mrs Snowbird. So, we made arrangements to meet them at the Sanibel Grill for a late lunch around 2:00, and some island bar hopping.

We had great conversation and good food; also kept our eye on a football game. After spending a while there, we decided to move on to another place.



When we arrived at CasaYbel's Coconuts Pool Bar, Danny Morgan was entertaining. We all enjoyed a couple of adult beverages there and more conversation; after which Danny had quit and we were ready to move on to the next place.









As we walked out to the parking area, we passed a pond and stopped to take pictures of a small aligator that was sunning himself.





We went further over on West Gulf Drive to the West Wind Pool Bar. It was really a nice cool afternoon, but by now the noseeums began to bother us, and we had to pass the bug spray around. There weren't many people there, so we had a very relaxing visit.



Around 6:40 PM we went out on the beach to watch the sunset. The water was really calm, waves small and the breeze was very nice. On the walk out to the beach, we met some folks on their way back, who were fighting noseeums. I shared the bug spray with them and they were truly thankful. :-) We watched the sun going down, as we walked along checking the shells.













It was very nice to finally get to meet our message board, blogger friends that we had chatted with for nearly 4 years. We all think we should make this a frequent affair. And we will. :-)

Fall On Sanibel Island

Even though we don't have leaves turning color to tell us it's fall; there are a few decorations around to remind us.

This cute display is inside the Timbers Restaurant, 703 Tarpon Bay Rd, which is one of my favorite places to eat. It isn't only the good food that I like, it's also the ambience. The entire place is decorated with a nautical theme. There are bamboo booths along the walls and also tables covered by market umbrellas. Tropical ceiling fans also add to the decor. It is a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere with a great wait staff. They have a varied menu with something for everyone. My grandchildren have also named this their favorite place.

These festive decorations are outside the Sanibel Grill, where friends met today to watch a football game.



With 16 large screen TVs and several different games going at one time, you can imagine the amount of cheering and good hearted heckling going on. Sadly, we were cheering for the loosing team.



The Sanibel Grill shares the same building and kitchen with Timbers Restaurant and is the local sports bar. It is said to be, the home of the largest personal collection of authentic sports memorabilia in Southwest Florida. Autographed photos of owner Matt Asen with sports and TV celebrities adorn the walls. Lots of them!
