Yes, it is a rainy Monday here on Sanibel, but I say that with a smile. We've needed rain for so long, that I don't think anyone would complain. The high temperature today was 79, with a strong North wind, and we've had 1.35" of rain. The temperature has dropped to 68 now.
It quit raining just before dark, so that allowed just enough time for a beach run. Making a quick stop at Lighthouse Beach, revealed a lot of clouds, but not many shells or people.

It really didn't look like the sun would shine through the clouds enough to make a pretty sunset. But, there might be and if there was, it would be beautiful. So, curiosity won again! You can't see a sunset from Lighthouse Beach, so leaving there quickly, left enough time to get out to the first causeway island to take a look.
It's always worth a drive out there when it's cloudy anyway, because you have a better view. The clouds were pretty low and further west, I could see a lot of white fluffy clouds just above the horizon. The sun probably would be hidden behind them as it went down. But, it was a dramatic sky with a little pink glow behind the dark clouds in the west. For all those people who dislike Florida in the summer; I have to tell you that viewing the clouds here and other tropical beauty, make enduring the heat for a short time, well worth it. :-)
View looking toward Point Ybel and the lighthouse. The photos below were taken as I kept turning to the left.
View toward the tallest bridge, before the toll plaza.
Looking over San Carlos Bay.
Looking over San Carlos Bay toward Pine Island Sound, and Sanibel on the N side of the causeway.

I'm glad you got some of the rain you needed and I'm especially glad you got such dramatic pictures of the clouds.
Glad you got some rain, Tootie. I know how dry your area has been.. But--they say that the 'rainy season' is beginning for you.
Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
