Today was a wonderful time to be on the beach. It was sunny and 79 degrees, with a cooling wind from the gulf. Going onto a Middle Gulf beach at the Fulgar Street access gave me quite a surprise. There were people and umbrellas as far as you could see in either direction. As you face the gulf, Just to the left of this access is the Sanibel Siesta Condos and then the Holiday Inn, where you see all the blue umbrellas. To the right is Compass Point, then a few other condo buildings and Sundial Resort, where you see the yellow umbrellas. You can see the multitudes of people in the areas of blue and yellow umbrellas, the photos don't show that very well. I walked to the Sundial area and didn't see a shell that I was tempted to pick up. The waves didn't appear to be bringing in many shells. Most of the people were walking or just baking in the sun, but I did see one lady picking up some shells. After walking back again, I was ready to leave it to the spring break families. :-) The traffic was very heavy too.

Tootie, I was out yesterday. Starting at Nerita and going towards the lighthouse, I found lots of miniatures. Even some wentletraps.
Definitely a pretty day to be at the beach; I wish we weren't such a long drive from the coast (any coast).
Hi Tootie, We are home from Arkansas---and while you were enjoying the sunny Florida beach, we were in an ICE storm. GADS--what's up with that??? ha ha
We did have a great time though--but are glad to get home. I enjoyed looking at your posts for the week. The beach looks so inviting. I love your Coquina shell collections. WOW!!!
Hope you have a great week ahead. And keep sending those beautiful beach pictures.
Hugs,
Betsy
Nice bright umbrellas. I was wondering Tootie, with all of those shells that wash up, can you get shell fish to eat, or is it not permitted? - Dave

Dave, live shelling on our Sanibel beaches is not permitted.
