Hurricane Ike - Advisory #5

As of 5 a.m., Sanibel Island has received approximately 1.35" inches of rain with a little more rain closer to the Lighthouse. With this morning's rainband, another 1 to 2 inches of rain is likely. With it falling in a short period of time, ponding and localized flooding are possible in the heavy rain band through 10am.

Due to high tide and localized flooding, the road to Lighthouse Beach is closed until the water subsides. Due to localized flooding, the end of Dixie Beach Road is closed until the water subsides. Woodring Point Road is closed due to a fallen tree blocking the roadway and localized flooding. The Department of Public Works is currently on scene clearing debris.
