Sanibel's Halloween Sunset

I was at Pointe Santo on West Gulf Drive this evening.  The temperature was 74, partly cloudy and we had some rain showers, all in all a good day!  There were plenty of shells on the beach to look at too!

There have been some very high tides of late.

I drove out to the Sanibel Causeway to view the Halloween Sunset.
I certainly was not disappointed!
(These photos are for all my friends that were not here to see this view.)

I hope you all had a fun Halloween.

A Sanibel Sunset and Party Time!

We are loving this weather!  It was around 80 today and 62 last night.  Our 'Snowbird' neighbors are flocking back to the island.  We've already seen many of them out enjoying the sunshine and warm weather.  The bad side of that, is the traffic.  We went to Ft Myers this afternoon and it was very apparent, by looking at license plates and simply by the number of vehicles on the road, that 'season' has begun.

On the way back across the Sanibel Causeway, the sunset was beautiful.

I think it was a special sunset, just for
the two in the photo below.

Today was the 20th birthday of our parrot, Lexus.
We had a little celebration for him this evening.
He was excited to see his birthday cake and his gifts.  He will have as much fun taking that pumpkin apart, as he will tearing his new toys into toothpicks.

Puffin, the furball, as Lexi calls him, wanted to celebrate with him.  Lotus, the other parrot, wanted to watch from the safety of her cage.  She really isn't much of a party animal.  Puffin thought we really didn't need another dusty, feather pickin' bird near the cake anyway.

After all the excitement, things are pretty quiet around here tonight. :)

Over the Bridges and ......

Yesterday we still had clouds and wind hanging around.  I was loving the cool temperatures.  We had to make a trip over the causeway to Lowe's, so we made it into an opportunity to eat
at Miller's Ale House.

This was a beautiful stuffed lobster, but it had already started to disappear by the time I got the camera focused. :)

My shrimp were yummy!  Have I mentioned
how much I love this place?

Today we went on another outing, this time it included our Umbrella Cockatoo, Lexus.  He had an appointment with his Avian Vet.  He was enjoying the ride over, except seeing the big pelicans flying along beside the car.

It was a beautiful day!

Our friends call this Lexi's Pope Mobile. :)
He was getting a good view from the
highest bridge.

It was a pleasant ride over and we hoped the afternoon would continue to be pleasant.  We were a little apprehensive about that.

Uh, I didn't think this would be a
good entrance to use....

But, was this one going to be better???

I'm sure his feelings must have been a little hurt, since there was no bird entrance.  But to add insult to injury, there was nothing but doggie stuff in the waiting area, along with a real doggie that was very nice and friendly.

We quickly went in to an exam room and once again, there was only doggie things in the room. :(  I think he was really getting worried by that time.  He seemed more confident after he saw the same doctor that he liked, when he had seen him once before, on the island.

He wrapped a towel around him with only his head sticking out, which he thought was ok.  Kind of nice and cozy.

But then, everything seemed to go bad....
he had to give them all kinds of specimens, which were really not that pleasant.  But he was still very good.  He did let out a yell or two to let them know he thought they had enough.  After that was over, he got to go back to his Dad to get comforted for a while.  He kept whispering over and over, "Lexi it's ok, it's ok, it's ok, Lexi it's ok!"  That almost made me cry.  :(  Then he had to get back in the towel again to have a blood sample drawn.  This time he did have to resort to jumping off the table once, just to let them know this would be the last thing!

He was keeping an eye out for more trouble!

After all that, he found out he was a very healthy bird, except for a tiny bit of yeast infection.

As he left, he was quite proud that he had left them a few souvenirs.
And....as far as he's concerned, the dogs can keep this darn place to themselves. :)

Then he got to go to Tony Sacco's to hang out, while his keepers had some pizza at a table outside.

He was happy to sit there and say 'Hello' to everyone who walked past.

The ride back to the island was nice!

Before it was dark tonight, I decided I am COLD!
I had to get out long pants and long sleeved shirt.
