It's been perfect weather here.  Sure doesn't seem like it's getting near the holiday season.  But everywhere you go, there are signs of Thanksgiving and Christmas appearing.  Yesterday we went to Bailey's Hardware and I enjoyed looking at all of the tropical ornaments they have hanging on their Christmas trees to sell.  They are really cute! :) After that, we went to the beach for a while.

It was another beautiful 80 degree day, here in our Sanibel Paradise today.The last few days there have been activities going on at the Sanibel Causeway.  The Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival was held Nov.3 through Nov. 6. Today the weather was so nice, we wanted to spend some time at the beach.  Little Puffin needed a bath anyway, so we took him with us.  He always seems to find a way to get sand all over himself.  On the way over, he stayed busy watching the scenery. Yesterday we still had clouds and wind hanging around.  I was loving the cool temperatures.  We had to make a trip over the causeway to Lowe's, so we made it into an opportunity to eat at Miller's Ale House. We had enjoyed the great weather that we were blessed with last week.  And also some pretty sunsets. But by the end of the week, we started having some cloudy and windy days. It was a beautiful afternoon at Pointe Santo de Sanibel yesterday. Everything on the island is pretty and green, due to all the rain we've had recently.  There were some small shells, the birds seemed to have plenty of time to pick through them, even if I didn't. :)  Later that evening, we drove out to the Sanibel Causeway to watch the sunset.

It was a nice morning for a turtle walk. :)  Cool and breezy!  The temperature last night got down to 75 degrees. :) We had a nest about due to hatch, and two nests already hatched, that were going to be dug this morning. After going out to eat tonight with our visiting family, we noticed the sky color was starting to get a beautiful color from the sunset.  We just had to drive out to a Sanibel Causeway island to see the view.It was wonderful! We arrived at the beach this morning around 6:15.  The temperature seemed perfect, until we stepped out onto the beach and felt the breeze, which was a little chilly.  It had been down to 65 during the night.  We kicked our shoes off, leaving them near the boardwalk.  As soon as my feet touched the wet sand, which felt cold, I wished I had left shoes on.  After walking a few minutes I warmed up.

Today was our second turtle walk of the season.  The temperature was perfect, but not quite as much breeze as I would have liked.  Because of that, the no-see-ums bothered us a little if we stopped walking.  After there was more light they disappeared.  I tried to get a photo of the manatee that was swimming around.  As we got near the area, there were around 5 people standing

This morning I went to Pointe Santo on West Gulf Drive to check on a couple of condos for a friend.  This is the view from one of those condos. The grounds are beautiful and green with lots of flowers blooming. There is a major difference in the amount of people on the beach now.  The temperature has been pretty nice.  It was around 73 last night and got up to 92 for a little while today.

After a relaxing day, we watched the sunset this evening from the Sanibel Causeway.  The shore line was lined with lots of other people who also had camera in hand. Our friends from the Netherlands have come here for their annual vacation.  They came bearing gifts. :)  A Dutch cook book, some yummy Dutch candy and a couple of other things.  There are a few of the recipes I am anxious to try.

A little beach time this evening at Fulgar St access. It was warm in capris and long sleeve t.  Pretty nice day for January. The humidity has really been high the last couple of days. This is the view from the beach at Pointe Santo late this afternoon. The holiday spirit is running rampant on the island!  The Christmas flamingos are flying out of Bailey's General Store. Yesterday evening we went to Gulfside City Park.  The weather was great!  It was really breezy on the beach, in fact it felt a little cool, by the time we left.  I thought this was an appropriate find since it's nearly turkey time. :) Bye, bye birds!  We'll be back another day. It was a perfect sunny, 78 degrees this afternoon when we decided to go for a drive that turned out to be the Sanibel Captiva Lap.  Our idea of the perfect drive is from Sanibel to South Seas at Captiva, a quick stop at Blind Pass, then back to Sanibel again to Rabbit Rd and over to take the Gulf Drives all the way to the east end of Sanibel. This evening we went to have dinner with my cousin, from Bonita Springs, FL.  We met her at Pinchers Crab Shack on San Carlos.  I had not seen my Cousin since she left to go North, in the Spring.  It was very nice to see her again and we had a good visit.  The dinner was excellent!  I would enjoy going there again.  It's very close to Sanibel and only takes a few minutes to drive there.  We had

This evening we went to a beach access on the east end of the island.  The temperature was just right, at that time, around 74.  Seemed to be a nice time for a beach walk.
