Woofin' 'Round Sanibel

Still busy working around the house, getting ready for kids and grands coming on their Spring break next Friday.

The weather has been great and besides work projects, we've been able to squeeze in lots of puppy play.....

a drive onto a Sanibel Causeway island .....

to watch a sunset.....

relax and enjoy the view.....

Rosalita enjoyed the sunset.....

Puffin enjoyed the view and the wind in his fur......

You know, every now and then, you just have to kick back and
enjoy a tropical foo-foo drink. :)

then snuggle up with your favorite flamingo.

Sanibel's First Day of Spring

Some of you already know that I moved to Sanibel from the Indianapolis IN area, so you will understand why this story was of interest to me.  Several weeks ago Indianapolis friends sent a link to a story about a baby dolphin that was found here.  It was transported and cared for at Mote Marine Laboratory, Sarasota FL for a few weeks and then given to the Indianapolis zoo.  Because he was not releasable to the wild, the plan to have him become part of the Indianapolis Zoo's group of dolphins gives him the best chance to be a part of a dolphin family.

It's kind of neat that my little Great Grandson will get to go to the zoo and visit that little dolphin who came from Sanibel. :)

If you will be in the Indianapolis area or planning to visit, you may want to check out the zoo's website.  That is if you are interested in meeting the dolphins up close and personal.

We are still working on a project, so there's been no beach time.  But, there was time today, when we had to go off island for more supplies, to look at the wonderful view from the Sanibel Causeway.  The temperature actually got up to 84 today, but it didn't feel hot because of a strong, cool wind.
I think the first day of Spring brought some beautiful clouds back. :)

New Visitor at Sanibel

The redecorating at our house is still ongoing.  Ugh, seems like we move slower and slower.  We'll be happy to get to the end of it so we can get back to spending more time at the beach.

We have spent quite a bit of time running back and forth to Home Depot and Lowe's.  Of course that means driving the Sanibel Causeway and looking at the wonderful view.

Puffin is getting used to the shopping trips and starts jumping around as soon as we pull into the parking lot.  He can't wait to get in a cart and wait for someone to give him attention.

Tuesday evening we treated ourselves to a yummy Pina Colada at the Sanibel Grill, the best I've had on the island.

Bailey's landscaping is growing and looking great!

Now I want to show you our new island visitor.....
It's Ms Rosalita.

We took her over to West Gulf Drive and resident access 5 to show her the beach.  She was so excited, we could hardly keep up.

We spotted a couple of friends on the beach and took Rosalita to meet them.

We were talking and when I looked around, Rosalita had helped herself to a Corona and was laying down sunning herself.

The weather has been very warm and breezy lately.  It's just perfect for spending time on the beach.  The water has warmed up a lot already too.

I didn't see many shells of interest, but Ms Rosalita had a great time doing the Sanibel Stoop.

Aren't her little flip flops just adorable?

When we walked back out to the parking area, we noticed one vehicle without a resident parking sticker had a parking ticket.  They check these very frequently through the day and it's really not worth taking a chance.

I think it's safe to say, Rosalita enjoyed her day.

Sanibel Here and About

I just wanted to assure you that I am still here and about.  Sorry I haven't posted much lately.  We have a project going on in the house that has kept me very busy and worn out too.  We are nearing the end of that and I hope to get back to spending more time at the beach.

The traffic lately has been horrid, so it is just easier to stay home.I had to go out yesterday on a grocery run to Bailey's. It was just before the evening rush and traffic wasn't too bad.  I thought I would just park at Gulfside City Park, run out to see how the shelling was and take a few pictures for the blog.  But the entire parking lot was full and running over, so when I found a spot barely big enough to turn around in, I made my escape.

Then it was on to Bailey's.  When I turned into the parking lot, I was surprised to see there was new landscaping going on.  The last time they had it done I wasn't impressed with the way it turned out.  But, this time it will probably be quite nice.  Lots of the plantings are already blooming and really pretty!  The newly opened Corner Grill is also getting added plants.  It's looking 'tropical' folks! :)

If you are on island today and enjoying the sunshine and 76 degree temp right now, don't forget the 74th Annual Shell Fair and Show is going on and traffic will be heavy.

I'm thinking this is your best option:
Sitting next to a Hibiscus bush, eating Sanibel Snickerdoodles that you can find at Bailey's.
