Sooo Behind on Sanibel

I started this post a couple of days ago and just now getting back to it.  I've already started thinking about preparing for the holidays and it's making me totally scatter brained!  Ugh!

Sooo........below you'll see random shots as we made a drive to Captiva and back.  It was actually more like a crawl.   There's so much traffic already because the winter populace is quickly returning.

If we weren't following slow, and I mean s-l-o-w drivers, we were behind a school bus.  Yes, even though this is Paradise, children have to go to school.

A stop at Blind Pass, checking the shelling situation, and there was none.

Back on Sanibel and heading home.

Each time we make this drive, I notice how the trees are growing into the beginnings of a canopy over the bike path again.  In a few places the trees have grown enough, in the last 6 years, that they are making some shade for the bikers again.  That's the reason for the following photos.  I can use them for comparison later on, to see how long it takes to regain the pre-Charley look.

Yesterday evening we drove off island
 for a short time.

As we started back onto the Sanibel Causeway, this was the view. :)

If you are on island, you might be interested in a wildlife tour by golf cart followed by dinner at The Dunes, tomorrow Nov 19.  The Dunes Golf Course has around 15 alligators of different sizes.  The tour is offered by Sanibel Captiva Conservation foundation and The Dunes.  Reservations are required for the tour and dinner.  More information is available by calling The Dunes at 239-472-3355.

Another fun thing to do is Sailing Under The Stars, which is an hour and a half of sailing and discussion of the planets, stars and constellations along the way, on Thursdays and Saturdays.  Call Captiva Cruises at 239-472-5300 for more information and reservations.

Hi Tootie! It continues to amaze me how my heart and soul react to your photos when I visit your blog. :) My heart always skips a beat and speeds up - and my soul remembers driving by the places you've captured on your camera. I'm counting the days (less then 130!) til I return to my beloved Sanibel. (I'm also reminded of the 20 pounds I must lose before then, too.....! Ugh!) lol!

Wow, is the Dunes tour a regular thing or a special deal? I'd love to do that with my grandkids! I'm afraid they'll never see an alligator, the way the world is going. I'd love the 'under the stars' trip, too, but I don't think they're quite ready for that one.
