Finally Some Rain

Today was another hot one, at 93 degrees. I didn't go on the beach today, but I was on the Sanibel Causeway and the water was calm, clear and a beautiful color.

Tonight, right after the sunset, some dark, stormy looking clouds came over from the mainland. We stood on the deck watching as they swirled around and were amazed by the red coloring below the darker clouds. The wind became pretty strong and much cooler, then lightning began flashing so we headed indoors.

It was pretty noisy from thunder and lightning for a while before we finally began to hear raindrops. YAY!! The whole thing didn't last a very long time, but we got a little over a half inch of rain.

Not very good pictures of the clouds above the trees, but will give you an idea of how it looked. You can see why we went inside, by looking on the right edge of the second photo.

It was lightning like CRAZY on Captiva. There was fire dancing down the power lines. It was pretty neat! Now heading to Cayo Costa!

We've gotten some much needed rain in the Orlando area as well, but I'm thinking we need a gully washer.

Beatiful photos. I have a very healthy fear of lightning. I just read in the paper of a young letter carier killed by lightning not far from us. What do you do about your turtle walks if it is lightning?

I would love to see a photo of Becky's garden. I bet it has really grown.

Hi. I was just thinking about Sanibel and wondering if you had seen any of the oil yet. I thought I would stop by here to see what the best Sanibel beach reporter has to say! ;) I am wearing my "Save our Gulf" necklace as I type this. Hope it stays clean down there. I'll be checking in for updates!

Those are some ominous clouds. We finally got some rain over here on the east coast today. It has been HOT here too. Glad we're on the beach--it would be miserable inland. Also glad the oil is not coming on shore in Sanibel. I've got to make it over there soon!
