The Perfect Sanibel Afternoon

Different people have different ideas of what makes a perfect Sanibel afternoon. So, two different groups of people can use different methods to accomplish this goal.

Two people spend their afternoon riding around Sanibel and Captiva with the top down on their little sports car. They have no where, in particular, to go or to be.

As they ride along looking at the scenery, once again they think how fortunate they are to be in such a special place.

The passenger, leisurely leans her had back, relaxing as she stares up at the fluffy clouds above, thinking all this natural beauty is mine today.

The warm sunshine helps release endorphins that gives them that "feel-good" sensation. Ah....yes, life is good!

Sunbeams radiating from the clouds are magical, and a perfect ending to their afternoon, as they make their way back home.

Other people's idea of a perfect afternoon, is throwing their backpack, beach chair over their shoulders, grabbing the beach umbrella bag in one hand and fishing pole and a kite in the other. Next they place a small cooler in their bicycle basket and head for the beach to set up camp to relax with good friends.

After the umbrellas are up, the chairs in place, they get their kites flying. One person reclines in their beach chair, as they read a book and wait for a fish to take the bait. Another, simply leans back to watch the clouds float overhead, then pulls a hat over his eyes and waits for fish to bite. One fisherman walks out into the water to stand until a passing fish grabs his bait. The ladies chat and leisurely walk the beach looking for shells.

At some point, just to add to the fun, the men decide to have a kite fight.

The sun is warm and the sea breeze cool. Ah....yes, life is good!

Leaning back with a cold drink in hand, thinking all this natural beauty is mine today.

They think nothing is more relaxing than watching a Snowy Egret fishing in the surf.

The Snowy Egret makes his entrance, once again, to make them feel they are one with nature.

The sunset is magical, and a perfect ending to their afternoon, as they make their way home.

What would you choose to do on your Sanibel afternoon?

I'm so glad you left a comment for me...

You are one lucky lady to be living on such an incredible island like Sanibel. When we first came to the island it was 6 years ago after Hurricane Ivan and ever since that day I knew I had to get back there. Although we didn't spend as much time as I would have liked, we will be back soon.

I will look forward in reading your blog so I can get my Sanibel fix whenever I need it!

Thanks so much again!!!

I could just feel the tranquility. Ahhhhhhh. Very relaxing. What would I choose to do? Any of it, all of it, none of it - doesn't matter. Just BEING on Sanibel is enough. Thank you!

I think I agree with busybee2, but if I had to choose I would say Debbie walking the beach shelling while I take pictures of whatever I see of interest.
