Sanibel Getting Back to Normal

Grand children and friend, celebrating Amanda's 16th birthday, on the last night of their vacation.

The Grand children's Spring Breaks are over and they have gone, leaving behind two weeks worth of memories. We had a wonderful time with them, some of it spent at Disney World and the rest here at Sanibel. The weather was perfect while they were here and they had lots of beach time along with many other activities. Now the house seems quiet and empty, as usual, after they leave.

Now I need to stay busy for a while, so it's back to blogging. :)

Today we went off-island for a while. It was very evident that things are getting back to normal here. There was much less traffic and the causeway islands were not crowded at all. It was cloudy when we left the island, but it wasn't raining. As soon as we reached the other side of the causeway, we drove in a light rain for a while.

Late this afternoon, we went to West Gulf Drive and parked at resident beach access 6. There weren't many people on the beach, which was another good sign that 'season' is about over. The sun felt very warm and the wind was cool, making a perfect combination.

There weren't a lot of shells on the beach, mostly small broken pieces. I could see more shells a little way out in the water. But, after seeing a good size shark cruise by, about 10 feet away from the water's edge, I didn't venture out to look.

I'm thinking that it's nearly that time of year when we have beautiful clouds to look at again. :)

I'm glad you're back. I missed your blogs and photos as part of my daily Sanibel "fix."

Isn't it nice that your grandkids come to visit like that. It is something they will remember and cherish as they get older!

Nice to see you back. Sounds like you had a marvelous time with the grand kids. They will remember forever. Some of my daughters most cherished memories are with her grand parents.

I missed your posts but I totally understand the lack of time to keep up with a blog! I went to Access 5 yesterday. Not a lot of shells or people--same as at 6. I didn't see a shark but the sting rays were having a ball catching waves and coming up onto the beach. Scary.

Welcome back. I have missed you and your blog. The grandchildren will always have great memories of their times spent with you at Sanibel. I'm counting the days until we are there.
