Beautiful Sanibel Monday

Last night it was a chilly 43 degrees, but today was sunny and warm, with the temperature getting up to 66 degrees. With only a slight breeze from the south, it felt warmer on the beach. The water temperature is 59 degrees.

On the way over to the beach, early this afternoon, we made a stop at Pointe Santo de Sanibel. It looked as though everyone was having a great time on the beach and there were even kids swimming in the pool.

From there, we went to resident access 6 off West Gulf Drive. There were a few shells at the high tide line, but hardly any coming in. The sun felt very warm and was just what I needed. I went dressed in warm clothes, thinking the wind would be a little chilly on the beach. After only a few minutes, I was wishing I hadn't done that. :) Tomorrow the temperature is supposed to be in the low 70's. PERFECT!

The first thing I noticed was a big glob washing back and forth in the surf. Looking a little closer I could see that it was a jelly fish. When it was spread out, it was around 2 ft wide. That's the biggest one I've seen on the beach. There were actually two of them about the same size. After a while, they finally worked their way back out into the water and disappeared.

Oh, that video of the surf did my heart good.
Your "chilly 43" would be our "thank God it's warmer".

Love those views..we always like the fact that the beaches are not crowed!! Such a lovely place to retire.. ;-D
Definitely get to Corkscrew, if you find the time..sooo nice. Early is best to avoid the crowd and it is quieter!!
Also if you want directions to a wonderful lonely road which is about 20 mins north of Corkscrew..where you might see the Caracara and swallowtail kites and tons of tree'd woodstorks..let me know and I will e-mail you directions. My e-mail address is siennablu@aol.com .. just label it Sanibel so I don't delete it :-)
Glad to see you are back and enjoying the island again!
take care,
t

I resident access 6 anywhere near the Blue Dolphin? I've stayed there a number of times and that's my favorite beach on the two islands.

I love Sanibel. It's my idea of paradise. My husband and I bought a foreclosure in bad shape on Big Pine Key in September; I'll retire and move down there (from VA) in June. My husband has been living there and working on the house since November. I'll fly down for two weeks at the end of the month. I cannot wait!

I found you through IrishEyes; I hope she'll visit me next time she heads to the Keys!

Welcome back. All is okay in the world when I can read your words and see Sanibel through your eyes. I hope everything is okay and everyone is well. Missed you much. XO
