Still Chillin' At Sanibel

The low temperature last night was 40 degrees and the high today was 53. That is way too cold, my comfort zone is well above that. But, I decided to suck it up and deal with the temporary misery, because I know most of you are enduring much colder temperatures right now and would like to see what the beach was like here today. So, we went over to resident access 2 off West Gulf Drive late this afternoon. It didn't seem cold at all, walking out the access, while protected from the wind. But, on the beach there was some cold wind. There weren't many great quality shells left at the tide lines or coming in. You would certainly have to work hard to find some. There was a large pile of someones rejects that had been dumped out.

There was a major difference in the traffic here yesterday and today.I guess the holiday travelers have returned to their homes. We will probably have 3 weeks of relief before more snowbirds return.

I am always surprised by how much smaller the shells are in real life compared to how they look in the photos. Does your beach ever get big shells? Sorry about your chill. Hope it warms up soon. On another note I got my Burpee catalog today and am drooling.

Yes, we do get some bigger shells, at times. I hope it warms up soon too! Wow, the Burpee catalog already? At least that will give you something to look forward to. I hope you don't have so much snow this year. You had WAY too much shoveling last winter.

Happy New Year to you. I have been harbouring thoughts of a seaside Christmas, next year! It really feels so right to me. Wishing you to enjoy your piece of heaven with good health, love and inspiration.

Wow! Your temps aren't that different than ours right now. And we think it's chilly too! I've been to Gulf Shores when it was terribly cold, but we were determined to find some nice shells. I remember one day at Santa Rosa Island when my siblings and I all got very wet and cold. At first it was numbing, but as we warmed up it hurt so bad!! We did find some nice shells in the surf though.
