Brrr, it's still cold, 38 was the low for today and the high was 51, water temperature is down to 53 degrees now. The temperature is beginning to drop again now and it's only 4:00 PM. They are predicting low 60's as the high for the next couple of days. At least, a little improvement.
Just like the Pony Express, no wind or cold kept us from the beach. The sun felt very warm as I walked out to the beach, but once that cold wind hit me in the face, I knew I wouldn't be there long.
In an easterly direction I could see a few people on the beach in front of Mitchell's Sandcastles and looking west, there were a couple of people in front of the Blue Dolphin. One man was sitting in a beach chair was wearing a jacket with a stocking cap pulled over his ears and a blanket. I figured he was looking out at the water and thinking about the snow flying up north.
After walking for a short time, looking at shells, and picking up one piece of driftwood, the wind made my eyes start watering, my nose run, and my ears hurt. I turned the other way and headed back toward beach access 6 where I had come from. Talk about wind chill! A song kept going through my head and I was humming and thinking the words, 'frozen toes in the water, cold a-- in the sand, not a worry in the world, don't want a cold beer in my hand'. But, life is still good today! :-)
Someone was working extra hard excavating, trying to find the perfect shells.
Glasses who lost their legs. :-( I think they had been at sea for quite some time!
As soon as I got home, I had some hot chocolate to warm me up again. (Love the mug Chris!)
