Cold and Rainy Sanibel Day

It rained steadily all day, but we took a run over to Lighthouse Beach this afternoon because I was curious to see if there were more shells. It was only 36 degrees when we were there but with the wind and rain it felt a lot colder. Tonight and tomorrow night are supposed to be even colder. I used a big golf umbrella to stay dry and to break the cold wind, but my toes were definitely cold today when I left the beach.

There was one other couple walking on the beach when we arrived and another couple dressed in heavy hooded coats and gloves were going out onto the beach with their shelling equipment as we left.

I picked up two little treasures here. Can you guess which they were?

The lighthouse on a cold and rainy day.

It was WAY too cold for ice cream today, but there was one car parked in front and some people standing inside, eating ice cream and waving at me as I took this picture. :-)

Nobody at the DQ.
There were a lot of cars parked in front of the Island Cinema. It was sure a great time for a movie matinee.

Guess it must have been a perfect time for grocery shopping too.

The rest of the people seemed to be shopping at Periwinkle Place.

My hero. Thanks for braving the weather to show us what's happening -- I guess I won't be jealous today (but I still bet there will be great shells this week!)

Hi Tootie, I knew you all were having cool temperatures --but had no idea it was THAT cold down there. That is really COLD for you, isn't it??? We have had temps in the 20's (lows in the single digits) for over a week now. Thursdays snow is still with us--and each day, it has added more. NOW---I'm ready for some warm sunshine at the beach. You can say the same thing, can't you???

Take care and stay WARM.
Hugs,
Betsy

BRRRR. . . I feel so sorry for people who have spent big bucks for this week in the sun. I love Sanibel, but I would be very sad if I was there this week. Also, poor farmers (and I don't mean on Farmville).
