One Last Turtle Walk

The last sea turtle nest in the zone that we walked each Tuesday morning, should have already hatched. But, it had not. So, we made one more quick walk this morning to see if we could spot any tiny, turtle tracks.

On the way to the beach, I could see the most beautiful colored sky. As we walked out the boardwalk near The Colony on East Gulf Drive, I had to stop a few times to take it all in. The sunrise itself, made the trip worthwhile.

The entire time, I only saw 4 people on the beach. This is a wonderful time of year! The weather was perfect for an early morning walk. The breeze was a little cooler than it has been all summer. Even the birds seemed relaxed as they all sat calmly, watching as we passed. I think they were also watching the sunrise.

There were no turtle tracks to be seen and the nest hadn't been disturbed. If it hasn't hatched by Sunday, it will be dug, to find out if it was a false crawl mistaken for a nest, or to determine the reason why it did not hatch.

After seeing the beauty this morning had to offer, I don't think I'm ready to give up my early morning visits to the beach. :-)

The colors of the sky went from bright to pastels.

I love your photos.
We have a naval port in Salamina for the warships and a port for the ferry-boats.

I think watching such beautiful sunrises would put a person in the right frame of mind for the day. A sun bath for the soul.

Thank you for visiting my blog. My family has truly loved visiting Sanibel for many years. I am envious that you get to live there everyday!!! I'll visit your blog often... and live the island life vicariously through you.

P.S. I love shelling too!!! My husband made fun of me for arranging all of my shells by type in the floor of our beach house. I told him that finding beautiful shells is like finding TREASURE!
