Fourth of July on Sanibel Island

Today it was sunny and pretty hot on the island. There was a 4th of July parade, but instead, we made a trip over to the airport to pick up more guests. :-) We got back in time to decorate the vehicle and register for the Optimist club's Annual Road Rally, our start time was a few minutes after l:00. We were number 34 in the start line, so that gives you an idea of how many cars were involved. There were three pages and part of a fourth, with questions that were also clues. We did pretty good through the first page, then on the second one, we missed a few things along the way. I know we missed some of them, but we had a world of fun. We got back to The Sanibel Grill just a few minutes after 3:00.

The kids said it was great fun! The three that went, were quick to catch onto the idea behind the rally and did a very good job of it. But, we won't know how we did for a few days.

We started watching the fireworks, but the noseeums and mosquitoes were so bad that we had to go inside and watch through a window. So the video only consists of the first 3 minutes. :-(

How much fun! We used to do these when I was in high school and had a great time.

Thanks also for posting a link to the Obama turtle story, I would have missed that and it was so interesting.

Thanks for the fireworks - the only ones I saw this year!
