Windy Wednesday

It was sunny this morning and the temperature got up to 83. Later this afternoon it began getting cloudy again. Some friends came to say goodbye, as their vacation was over and they were heading to the airport. They said that the tide had been very high during the night and the waves were bigger today. So, it seemed a good idea to check out the beach, before it started raining.

As soon as I was by access 6 path, I could hear the loud sound of the surf. The first peek through the trees, revealed beautiful clouds and rough water. I also felt sprinkles of rain starting.

There were some shells in places. When digging into them, I noticed that there were a lot more there, than it appeared at first glance. There was sand covering many of them and you would just have to scrape it back to dig through the shells. I only did a quick look and decided to go. With the rain drops and the strong wind, it was a little chilly. The weather we are experiencing is due to a low pressure system off the coast, and will continue tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully that will bring in more shells. :-)

The beach has had some erosion due to rough water.

I don't know how far this soldier had to travel, but he looks pretty tired.

Thanks for the daily update. We will be there in a couple of weeks so it is great knowing how the weather and shelling is.

Looks like that soldier is laying down on the job. Isn't it amazing what you find on the beach sometimes? I'm so glad that rainy season has finally started down there. Did they ever get the Everglades fire put out?

Hi Tootie, the high point of my day is waiting to see your pictures of the day. I'm always so excited when you post the shell ones as I can go virtually shelling for a few minutes. I cannot wait until October to be in paradise again.

Thanks for sharing paradise.

The clouds look pretty angry. We've had beautiful weather....I think it was 81 today. They said rain showers, but none at my house. The way I sit on the hill they seem to go around me. (Knock on wood that I didn't jinx myself saying the aloud!). I do know we do need rain though with the high firedanger, but I'd really like to finish some work in the yard first! Glad you are getting the rain you desperately need.
