Sanibel Sunday Afternoon

Last night there was karaoke at Biddle's. A wedding party of around 25 people came in, after the wedding at West Wind Inn. It made a nice evening, watching the bride and groom dance, while a friend of ours sang the song he had sung to his bride, eleven years ago. The groom also sang several songs, so did his uncle. They are very talented and we enjoyed it a lot.

This afternoon we met friends at the West Wind Inn Pool Bar. At one point I looked down, and thought a man had strangled himself with a noodle. :-) Just kidding, but I think he did have a nice relaxing nap.

It began to get cloudy with some thunder, but all we got was about 2 sprinkles. If you look closely in the bottom right corner, you will see that Captain Kangaroo is not dead! :-)

Walked out to the beach later this evening, on East Gulf Drive at an access near The Colony.

There were a lot of dark clouds, that looked pretty threatening.

There were hardly any shells here, and a friend told me that there were not many on a west gulf beach this morning when they were there, either.

I did find one thing. Below, you will see the elusive seashell called the watermelon cup.

Driving past Sanibel Moorings this evening, I noticed a beautiful tree blooming with LOTS of dark pink flowers. I didn't know what kind it was, so stopped to take a look and found out from a stake at the base of the tree. Now that's what this curious person likes....name tags. :-) It is an Apple Blossom Casia Javinica Tree. It has beautiful pink apple-blossom-like flowers that change in color from pale red to dark red then paling again. Flowers range from white to pink on the same branch and appear in dense clusters. This tree usually blooms for over three months. After driving away, I noticed another tree that had similar yellow blooms on it. I will have to go back to check that one out, because there was a name stake at that tree too. I am guessing that it is another type of Javinica Tree.

It is the pink one, in the center of the photo, on the left of the driveway.

Love the watermelon cup shell.. I've never seen one.
