Thursday's Turqoise Water

Making a trip off the island today, I was surprised to see that it was one of those days when the water is a beautiful turquoise color. It was so transparent that you could see through it to distinguish the deep and shallow areas. There were several boats that passed under the causeway, with the water looking so pretty and clear, in their wake.

On one of the causeway islands, there were a lot of people fishing and I saw, for the first time ever, a hot dog wagon. :-) At least that's what it looked like.

There were about 10 wind surfers near the second island. Then just after reaching the highest point of the bridge, I noticed both sides of the decline was lined with new palm trees. After going past the toll plaza, there were new palms lining both sides of the approach to it. They are beautiful!

Tried a new place to eat on the return trip, The Arizona Pizza Company, at Winkler and Gladiolus Drive. I had seen it as I passed by a few weeks ago and wanted to try it. They advertise wood fired pizza and that is the first thing you see when entering the building, the wood fire, and it makes the whole place smell good too. I instantly liked the interior with a bar, tables and booths. Each of the booths had a flat screen TV on the wall. The waiter arrived promptly and took the order. I ordered the create your own personal pizza. It was very good. The waiter never checked to see if I needed a drink refill, which I would like to have had. It took a while to get the check, another while for him to come back to pick it up and then a LONG time for him to return to the table with the change. It was then that I realized why the TV was there. Oh well, I'm on Island Time anyway.

While in the restaurant, rain clouds had gathered and it looked like it was about to begin raining; but nearing the island the clouds were gone and the sun was shining. I guess that's why they call it 'Paradise'. :-)

What a beautiful day! And those prices look darn good - too bad the service didn't impress. Living on Island Time sounds very good, especially as we wait for our oncoming winter storm (again)!

It looks as if you had a beautiful day. I'm not sure a TV in the booth makes for poor service in a restaurant.

George, I meant the TV was to keep you entertained if you had to wait. :-) I was thinking that the guy had better hurry, because if another show started before he got back, I might have to stay until it was over.

The water there always makes me happy to see it!

You have to pay a toll to go on and off the island? I would be very irritated with that. No tolls here. My guys would love the booth with a tv.

Gale, there isn't a toll to go off the island. There is a $6 toll to cross the causeway as you come onto the island. However, we have a LeeWay Pass. You put money into an account that allows a reduced rate of a $2 toll to be taken out each time we go through the toll plaza. A small transponder is mounted on the inside of the windshield with your customer account info, and it is read by an antenna above the toll lane. This process allows you to keep moving through a lane without stopping. The charge is progressively more for larger vehicles.

Hi Tootie, Thanks for visiting my blog. I LOVE yours. You live at one of the neatest places on earth. I went to Sanibel once---years ago. We found some gorgeous shells. WOOOOOOO... I'm jealous.

I'm gonna check out some more posts.
Hugs,
Betsy
