Friday With Friends

Arrived at Blind Pass today around 2:15 and left about 5:15. I looked around for 'Alice n Wonderland' who reads this blog, and was planning to be at Blind Pass this afternoon. However, I didn't see her there. :-( Maybe I'll run into her somewhere tomorrow.

There weren't really any shells coming in, but some friends and I dug in the piles of shells from yesterday. I found several nutmegs, turbans, a couple of olives, shark eyes, and some other things. There were plenty of shells there, I just didn't take the ones I already have a lot of. The shell piles had been dug through a lot. :-) There were several other people there too, sitting on the shells and digging.

As the tide got up higher, it began to take out some of the shell pile. While standing out in the water watching, Gary found an albino scotch bonnet that is perfect. It was a big surprise, because none of us has ever found one without holes in it or being totally worn from the sand. After that find, we all decided to leave because we were supposed to meet 7 more friends for dinner at the Sanibel Grill at 6:00. We made it on time too.

I again watched one of your ocean beach videos, and found it almost hypnotic. Do you find that the sight and sound of the waves are like that Tootie? Maybe not when there in person. - Dave

Betsy is always looking for shells when we go to the beach. I guess we're going to have to go to Sanibel if she really wants to find lots of good ones.

Funny I was just asking you whether you had found a Scotch bonnet! What a perfect one! Way to go, Gary! Thanks for posting a photo, Tootie.

I could just sit right there in the middle of that pile of sand and listen to the water soaking up the warmth all day long. I'm freezing!

Tootie: you and Gary seem to be the shelling masters! I have heard so many different opinions on the best spots to look for shells - in the tidal pools, along the waters edge, in 2 ft. of water, along the high tide line. I was wondering which YOU like the best for finding shells?

Beautiful! I've only found one turban it that one was broken so I am way jealous! Can't wait to try again! And Cimba7200, I know I find the waves hypnotic when I am there. I relax the minute I hear the surf! :)
