After leaving the causeway toll booths, I noticed a man taking signs down from the big billboards. I think those are made from vinyl and they were all ripped and torn. We must have had some really hard winds in the early morning hours.
On the return trip across the causeway, there were a few windsurfers out. I'm not sure how well those work on waves that big. All of them were sitting on the beach, looking out at the water.
The pelicans were out in force flying along beside the last causeway bridge, it looked like they were enjoying the strong wind.
Thought it might be worth a look to see what the wave action was doing on a West Gulf Beach. Stopped in at Pointe Santo, walking out to the beach, there was a loud roar from the wind and waves. Walking around the end of A building, I could tell that the high tide had brought sand and a few shells scattered through the dunes and up to the edge of the grass. There were some shells that the receding tide had left swirled around on the beach. They were a couple inches deep in a few places, but it was mostly what I call kibbles & bits (crushed seashells) and very small shells. The entire beach was clean and smooth The wind was so strong that it was blowing the sand, but it was still kind of wet, so wasn't as bad as I've known it to be. Sometimes it feels like you're getting sand blasted and it stings your face and legs. The tide had gone up to the lounge chairs and just under the ends of a few of them, and up to the grass in front of E building.
After taking a quick look at the shells, walking back and forth a little, taking a few pictures and trying to take a video with the wind blowing me back and forth; I was done, with no shells in hand!
