Thursday's Sky Show

It seemed a drive out to the causeway to watch the sunset would be a pleasant way to spend the evening. There were some very pretty white fluffy clouds in the blue sky to look at from the first bridge. After pulling over to park, the sun was so bright as it descended that I really couldn't take any pictures from there. So......we needed a new plan.


It looked a huge cloud was hanging right over the lighthouse.









Next stop was the south end of Buttonwood Lane, on the east end of the island. It had been pretty warm today but this evening was great! There was the nicest cool breeze and the sky put on a show that was unbelievable. I could hear the sounds of thunder from further away and you could tell it was raining in several areas.

There were very few shells, and what I did see was small. I did pick up several, as I walked along the waters' edge. Quite a few people were out walking; one couple in particular caught my eye. They were both bending very close to the sand as (I imagine) they were looking for tiny shells.

It seemed like things changed suddenly and the clouds began to darken with the threat of rain. The thunder grew louder and I saw some lightning. For me the show was over. It began to rain lightly after leaving and very quickly started raining harder. The clouds put on quite a performance, but the actual rain only lasted about 30 minutes.







There was a large space in the clouds, right over a part of Ft Myers Beach, with rain coming down on both sides of it.





As the sun was going down, the clouds behind this group of condos was a bright red glow.















My treasures today; bubble shells, mussels, a cardita, and venus clam.
